LOCATION

DESCRIPTION
Precast basalt retaining walls were supplied and installed at front and rear on a corner block in the suburban outskirts of Melbourne. These walls were 60 metres in length, and ranged in height, from 300 millimetres to 1.2 metres. The 25 tonnes of stone precast retaining walls were made interstate and trucked onto site.
CHALLENGES
The suburban Melbourne residential area environment meant that there was limited access to the site. Noise pollution and heavy plant movements would also be issues, and needed to be kept to minimum levels.
SOLUTION
These walls were precast, and therefore allowed Alcock Stone to efficiently supply and install the retaining walls whilst minimising time spent onsite. This also minimised noise pollution and disruption to neighbours.
RESULT
Structural stone retaining wall made to withstand ground movement and also providing an aesthetically pleasing addition to the property and neighbourhood.
